Welcome to CardiacFlow

Flow is essential—in the body and in healthcare systems.

In every case—whether it’s an artery or clinic access—when flow is blocked, the people suffer.

In this space, I’ll share a cardiologist’s view on healthcare strategy and operations—how flow in all its forms can be understood, optimized, and unleashed.

The body needs flow to survive.

Organizations need flow to thrive.

About Me

My life's work is to help build health systems with soul: systems where patients get care like we would want for our own families, and where those who work in healthcare find deep satisfaction in the act of caring.

We are human, and so we aren’t perfect, but we try to do better every day.

I trained in biomedical engineering (BS, Northwestern University McCormick School of Engineering), medicine (MD, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine), discovery science (postdoctoral fellowships at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine), and business (MBA, Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management).

I’ve spent the past two decades at the intersection of clinical care, systems improvement, and operational strategy while staying deeply connected to teaching and the academic mission.

Through these experiences—at the bedside with patients and at the strategy table with leadership teams—I’ve seen what can happen when a deeply engaged team with a growth mindset builds systems that last.

Over time, I’ve come to believe a few things very deeply.

A manifesto, of sorts:

When we serve, we lead.
When we act, we preempt.
When we create, we solve.
When we empower, we win.

These are the underpinnings of flow.
